Detroit, which had been one of the feel-good stories of the postseason after surviving four consecutive elimination games, simply ran out of gas. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren combined for just 20 points on 8-of-23 shooting.
Cleveland now faces New York in the Eastern Conference Finals — a rematch of Christmas Day. The Knicks swept the 76ers in four games and have won seven consecutive postseason games. The Cavaliers have won six straight Game 7s. This is the premier matchup of the East and tips off this week. Mitchell vs Brunson is as good a head-to-head individual battle as the playoffs have to offer.
Western Conference Finals: OKC Thunder vs San Antonio Spurs — Game 1 Tonight
The matchup everyone wanted. Oklahoma City swept the Lakers 4-0 and is a perfect 8-0 in the 2026 playoffs — an undefeated run that has been as dominant as any postseason performance in recent memory. San Antonio, meanwhile, eliminated Minnesota in six games with a masterclass in using Wembanyama's gravity to create for others. In the clinching Game 6, Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox scored or assisted on 28 of San Antonio's 36 first-quarter points while the Timberwolves loaded up to stop Wemby. Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals tips off tonight at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. This is the series the entire league has been waiting for — the league's best player (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) vs the league's most unique player (Wembanyama). From a betting standpoint, OKC is a significant favorite at home, but San Antonio's ability to create offense through Wemby's gravity and Castle and Fox's creation gives the Spurs a genuine path.
PGA Championship: Aaron Rai Wins at 150-1 — A Major Upset for the Ages
The biggest sports betting story of the weekend did not come from a basketball arena or a hockey rink. It came from Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia, where England's Aaron Rai — a 150-1 longshot entering the final round — claimed the 2026 PGA Championship with one of the most composed closing rounds of the year.

Rai became the first Englishman to win the PGA Championship since Jim Barnes in 1919 — a 107-year gap. The last European to win the PGA Championship before Rai was Rory McIlroy in 2014. With McIlroy winning the Masters in April and Rai winning the PGA, this marks the first time in the four-major era dating back to 1934 that the first two majors of the year were won by Europeans. Rai earned $3.69 million and a lifetime exemption into the PGA Championship along with five-year exemptions into the Masters, US Open, Open Championship, and the Players.

The 8-3 scoreline is the largest margin in this series by a significant margin and was a statement game from a Buffalo team that refused to go quietly.
Game 7 is Tuesday in Montreal — one of the best home playoff atmospheres in sports. The Canadiens have the crowd advantage and Lane Hutson has been one of the most exciting young players of this entire postseason. But Buffalo's Game 6 performance was too dominant to dismiss. The Carolina Hurricanes wait in the Eastern Conference Finals for whichever team survives Tuesday night. This is a true coin-flip Game 7 and one of the most compelling remaining bets of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
